There are basically two ways to handle a chipped tooth, here in Elgin IL:
- Panic.
- Come in to David Rice DDS right away .
Healthy teeth are surprisingly strong, but taking a fall, biting down on something hard, or some other type of accident can chip off part of a tooth.
When that happens, it may not even hurt that much. But chances are you’ll find the resulting sharp area quickly enough, with your tongue. If the chip is big enough, though, there can be accompanying pain.
Depending on the severity of the chip, you may not even need much in the way of treatment. If it’s really small, polishing and smoothing out any sharp edges may be enough. On larger chips we can use a filling material to make the tooth look better and feel better.
